My attitudes toward open access have evolved over time, especially in the last two years. The amount of open access information, especially open data, creates so many opportunities for meta analyzes, collaboration, construction of models, and authentic data to teach undergraduates in the sciences. As a result, I have begun to build my own small database that provides those who are interested in the use of open data, especially in undergraduate biology education, with the names and links to various data repositories that could provide data for biology and/or ecology based courses. It seems to me that student's that can access and utilize data that encompass their own interests would have aess issues when learning the scientific method, including hypothesis testing and basic statistics. Feel free to make use of the information below and if you know of other open data repositories and think others would benefit by having an access point, there is a Google Form at the bottom of the page that will allow you to submit that information.
This table is provided “As Is” and “As Available” and is without warranty of any kind, expressed or implied.
